Kassel is situated in the part of the federal state Hessen in Germany and has a population of 200.000 habitants. the city is well known for the exhibition of modern art that takes place every five years.
The exhibitions started in 1956 under the vision of Arnold Bode a painter and sculptor, to show that the spirit modern art had survived the Nazi regime. Willem IX/I
Count and sovereign of
Hessen-Kassel 1785-1821
|
Once we arrived we conduct a plan de champagne and so we agreed that Chris would comfortably descent down the mountainand wait for us to meet again. ‘Take you’re time for walking down and I’ll be waiting there’ he said, climbing in his car and drivinge off, ‘take you’re time walking?’
An breathtaking view made me forgot his words.
A
t the top of that all, stands Hercules he enjoys this overwhelming wide view since they made the pak.
Along the cascade there is a stairs to walk down the mountain besides the waterfall. Sadly the waterfall did not work that day, it works only three days a week and in the tourist-season. But it must be an overwhelming experience when the water comes falling down with a thundering sound. Unfortunately it not happened when we were there.
Halfway in every terrace there was something to see like this mythology figuresPan and an faun.
Wile walking we enjoyed the view and the weather, it was an agreeable
temperature for a walk, but walking downhill was a very difficult time for our
calf muscles. Further down the mountain, all most an hour walking and just half
our way. Lives on the last terrace Neptune.
Meanwhile we were walking and watching my thoughts were….. ‘You ‘ll be an sovereign an and you can built such beauty’…
|
At the end of the waterfall / fountain we entered the forest. We imagined us in a fairy forest of the brothers Grimm. With hidden tracks and unexpected buildings. Meandered brooks, little waterfalls. Only we missed the handsome prince on a with horse….. |
After two hours of walking downhill and sniffing the fresh forest air,we became to the end of our walk and we saw Chris sitting and waiting, quietly playing a game on his palmtop. We walked downhill in a record tempo he said, and then it was time to let rest our calf muscles. Time for a coffee break we where burned-out. "Just a take your time for a walk"......
And because we where in the neighbourhood of the reservoir Edersee we visited that too.
It was an flash visit to this reservoir. In the Second World War they bombed the dam and the whole area was flooded.
The Edersee is not a little reservoir, it has 70 kilometres of shore length. All the way up to Kassel was water trouble. Now these days, luckely you do not notice anyting.

High above the reservoir Edersee you see 'Schloss Waldeck' the castle of Waldeck
After our visit on the reservoir Edersee and a quick meal it was time to go home. Halfway we had a rest and the a emergency sanitary stop. Further, whitout anything worth mentioning we where home that day 21.00 our. tired but satisfied.
Thanks children for this wonderful day. Kassel is normality a common dull city but the surroundings are in one word....fantastic!!!
